Great Outdoors Project
A community nature project in Northamptonshire
The Great Outdoors Project aims to encourage local communities to become more active and involved with five nature reserves across Northamptonshire. They are Lings, Storton’s Pits and Kingsthorpe Meadows in Northampton, Summer Leys, near Wellingborough and King’s Wood in Corby.
The project has been made possible by funding received from Natural England’s Access to Nature programme, funded by £25m from the Big Lottery Fund’s Changing Spaces programme. The grant of just over £97,000 will enable the project to run for 3 years.
Project Year 3: September 2011 – August 2012
The project is now focused on Kingsthorpe Meadows and Storton’s Pits Local Nature Reserves which are both located in Northampton. Over the next few months we will be undertaking lots of consultations to find out what people think of the reserves and how we can improve them. The surveys for both reserves are now live and can be accessed via the following links:
Kingsthorpe meadows – http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/kingsthorpemeadows
Storton’s Pits - http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/stortonspits
We would really appreciate it if you could spend a few minutes filling out our questionnaires; even if you haven’t visited either of the reserves you can still fill out a survey and your opinions are extremely valuable. Plus, if you leave your details with us when completing the survey you’ll be entered into a prize draw to win some wonderful wildlife gardening goodies!
