Peterborough Community Projects

There are numerous ways in which you can get involved in the Trust’s work and wildlife in Peterborough. We offer something for everyone, from 0 to 100 and from building boardwalks to enjoying or leading guided walks and play projects on nature reserves for children.

Our main aim in Peterborough is to ensure increasing numbers of people have the opportunity to enjoy close contact with wildlife on our superb reserves to foster a care and understanding of the natural environment.

If this is your first contact with us, you may like to come along to a family event or illustrated talk, or take advantage of our outreach programmes for community groups.

If you’d like to be more involved there are numerous volunteering opportunities, along with advice and guidance on protecting and encouraging wildlife in your local area, whether it may be on farmland, in school grounds, community greenspaces or private gardens. Please contact us at the Peterborough office on 01733 294543 or email peterborough@wildlifebcnp.org

Alternatively you can follow the links below to find out more about specific opportunities:

Go Wild!: Supported by Perkins through the Caterpillar Foundation, Go Wild! offers opportunities for local communities to discover and be involved in wildlife through guided walks, community consultations, outreach work and volunteer teams.

The Wild Play Project: Funded by Big Lottery this project aims to link local children and young people to Wildlife Trust nature reserves and create opportunities for Wild Play such as fun open events, targeted sessions and youth conservation days on local nature reserves. This will allow under 19 year olds to enjoy and discover their local green space and take informed and appropriate action for wildlife.

The John Clare Country Project: A partnership project to the West of Peterborough, the John Clare Country Project celebrates the wildlife, history, arts, culture and heritage of the limestone Living Landscape area.
