The different ways in which people can get involved at Lings are listed below. Further details of specific events can be found on our Events database. Alternatively, Get in touch with the Centre manager.
Walkie talkies is for people of all ages to meet for an invigorating walk around Lings Local Nature Reserve every Tuesday from 9.30 – 11am.
Work parties are for adults who want to learn conservation management skills and help enhance the nature reserve. Volunteers meet at 9.30am every Wednesday and Thursday at Lings House (pick-up also available from the town centre).
Lings Wildlife Watch Group is for children aged between 8 and 13 years who are interested in wildlife and the environment. Meetings are led by registered leaders and are held on the first Sunday of each month from 2pm - 4pm.
Youth and community groups can get involved in a variety of tailored activities including practical conservation work, educational activities or recreational tasks. Get in touch, the Centre manager, for further information.
Wildlife Training Workshops give people the opportunity to learn more about different aspects of local wildlife to enjoy and understand the countryside better.
Wildlife Trust Ecology Groups are teams of volunteers covering clusters of nature reserves with similar habitats. Their main activity is fieldwork throughout the year, which requires natural history skills such as species identification, to monitor species and habitats and the way they are managed.
