Woodland Linkage Community Education Service

Educational opportunities

The  Woodland Community Education Service offers child-centred learning experiences designed for key stages 2 & 3 (ages 7 to 14). All programmes are based on the National Curriculum and enable children to develop an emotional connection with three woodland reserves in Cambridgeshire. Education staff help to plan visits and offer flexible and creative learning experiences. The following programmes have been developed:

Woodland art

A chance for students to celebrate the beauty of ancient woodlands. Woodland art is a two-part programme lasting one day, designed to give students inspirational time outside, followed by a creative art session at school working with a professional artist. Activities include making sun prints, exploring textures, and learning about other well known artists who use the natural world as inspiration for their work.

Woodland trail

A flexible, interactive trail through a local woodland habitat: Students navigate their way through the woods to discover and learn about seed dispersal and collection; tree identification and planting; mini-beast hunting; and measuring light intensity, temperature and soil moisture.
