Friends of Summer Leys
Friends of Summer Leys Local Group
The Friends of Summer Leys Local Group is run by a committee of local people, who are also members of the Wildlife Trust, to help further the aims of the Wildlife Trust at the reserve.
The reserve offers a wide variety of habitats and is in an ideal position for passing migrant birds and is home to many different wild flowers and insects. Detailed records of bird, plant and animal sightings are maintained and the bird hides are situated for all wildlife enthusiasts to enjoy watching the birds and other animals on the reserve.
The Friends of Summer Leys Local Group organises a number of events on the reserve including bird walks, pond dipping, flora and fauna studies and butterfly/dragonfly walks and a winter programme of specialist guest speakers. Everyone is welcome to attend. For all events and activities organised by the Friends of Summer Leys Local Group, please see What's on?
The Group is organising a series of winter lectures at The Memorial Hall, Great Doddington, NN29 7TQ starting in September 2011 at 7.30 pm for a donation of £2 which includes refreshments.
