Go4Green on World Environment Day

Local schools, businesses and organisations pledge their support

The local Wildlife Trust have launched a Go4Green campaign enabling local schools and businesses to show their support by wearing something green, eating something green or doing something green on Thursday 5 June, World Environment Day.

World Environment Day is an annual campaign by the United Nations to raise awareness about the environment. This year's theme is ‘CO2 - Kick The Habit!' ~ Towards a low carbon economy’. It aims to focus on greenhouse gas emissions and how to reduce them, and will be celebrated around the world.

Claire Gerrard, the deputy head teacher at Thorndown Community Junior School in St. Ives said: “We’re very happy to be involved in supporting the Wildlife Trust on World Environment Day, especially as it coincides with our own ‘Environment Week’ at school. We’re doing lots of things to raise the children’s awareness and knowledge of environmental issues and wearing something green is a great way to show that we can all do a bit to help the environment".

If you want to Go4Green, either on World Environment Day or indeed at any other time, please contact Linda Marshall on 01234 364213 or email linda.marshall@wildlifebcnp.org.
