Go wild at Lings Local Nature Reserve this summer!
Free event for young people aged 12-18 years
On the 29th July staff at The Wildlife Trust are offering young people in the local area the chance to get outdoors and take part in a range of exciting activities at Lings Local Nature Reserve in Northampton.
The free event, which will run from 1 – 4 pm, is for young people aged 12 -18 years old and is a taster session for the Trust’s youth environmental volunteering group Greenwatch, which meets once a month on the reserve.
Event attendees can test out their survival skills by building a woodland shelter; get stuck into some hands-on practical conservation activities; find out more about the fascinating wildlife at Lings and help set up a camp complete with campfire!
Community Involvement Officer Louise Tuffin says “Lings Local Nature Reserve is a fantastic place to explore and discover the natural environment, and is the perfect place to relax and have fun too. Greenwatch at Lings gives local young people the chance to socialise and meet new people as well as learning fun new skills and helping us to look after the nature reserve. This taster session is a great way for people to come along, have a go at some activities and see if they would maybe like to start coming to Greenwatch regularly – we always welcome new members!”
Attendees should meet at the Lings LNR Education Centre. For more information or to book your place (booking is essential) please contact Amanda Swinford on 01604 405285 or email Amanda.swinford@wildlifebcnp.org
