What’s new?

Come and explore the Spring-time magic of King’s Wood Local Nature Reserve with The Wildlife Trust!

The Wildlife Trust is inviting families to don their wizards’ hats and dust off their magic wands to join them for an afternoon of woodland magic at King’s Wood in Corby during the Easter break. The event will run from 1 – 3pm on Thursday 14th April.

The Wildlife Trust is a nature conservation charity that helps to look after local wildlife and this event will help children and their families to discover and explore the enchanting habitat at King’s Wood.

Louise Tuffin, Community Involvement Officer at The Wildlife Trust says ‘Spring is a truly magical time of year for wildlife; there’s so much going on, from animals coming out of hibernation to bluebells and other wildflowers coming into flower. Birds start building their nests and you start to hear the buzz of bumblebees and other insects in the air.

At our Woodland Wizardry event you’ll be able to make your very own spellbinding star wand out of willow, go on a mystical nature trail to discover the secrets of the woods, explore the marvellous minibeasts that live at King’s Wood, and more!’

As this is an outdoor event please come appropriately dressed for the weather and boots or wellies are a good idea. Woodland Wizardry is a free event but donations towards the work of The Wildlife Trust are always gladly received.

This session forms part of the Great Outdoors Project, which aims to encourage more people to get outdoors and visit their nearby nature reserves. It is funded by Natural England’s Access to Nature grant scheme, which is funded by The Big Lottery Fund’s Changing Spaces programme.
