Come and be a Nature Detective with us at Randalls Farm, and get face to face with nature!
Come and be a nature spy at our Nature Detectives event, and uncover clues to find out who lives at Randalls Farm Environmental Education Centre in Stewartby. The event will run from 12 – 4pm on Saturday 14th May, and we are calling people to come along and join in.
Nikki Tomlin, Voluntary Education Officer with The Wildlife Trust says ‘Randalls Farm Environmental Education Centre is a fantastic reserve for exploring different habitats. We have woodland, meadow and a fantastic pond, overlooked by a bird hide, all in a compact area, ideal for exploring the different creatures that inhabit these differing habitats.
At our Nature Detectives event you’ll be able to pond dip to discover what lurks hidden in the watery depths of the pond, become a forensic investigator and uncover the mystery of the owl’s dinner by dissecting owl pellets and identifying skeleton remains and be a wildlife adventurer with our nature explorers kit and discover mini beasts hidden in their wild habitats.
There will also be the opportunity to get crafty and create bug homes, plant flower seeds and make bird feeders to attract wildlife into your own garden or outdoor space.’
The event forms part of the Community Wildlife Programme, funded by The Big Lottery Fund, which aims to bring people together to learn about nature and protect the natural environment by raising awareness of threatened wildlife and places.
As this is an outdoor event please come appropriately dressed for the weather. Booking is essential with a suggested donation on the day of £2.50 per person or £6.00 per family gladly received.
