What’s new?
Brand new wildlife group in Cambourne makes a splash!
The brand new Cambourne Wildlife Watch group had its first ever meeting last weekend and everyone who attended had a brilliant time. Children got the chance to discover the animals that had made their home in the wildlife pond and found a great variety of creatures dwelling there. They also learnt how to make flower pots out of newspaper and put together a seed diary so that they could monitor seed growth until the next session.
Wildlife Watch Officer Amanda Brookes says “We are really proud to have a brand new Wildlife Watch group based in Cambourne. The children had a fantastic time during the first meeting and were really engrossed with what they found in the pond. The Wildlife Watch Leaders provided a great session and passed their enthusiasm for wildlife on to the children”.
Wildlife Watch is a national initiative and is the junior branch of the Wildlife Trust. Children aged 8-12 can take part in fantastic wildlife activities and discover the brilliant creatures that live on their doorstep! Wildlife Watch aims to encourage children to adopt a caring attitude and enthusiasm towards wildlife and conservation. The groups also help to raise awareness and understanding of the natural environment.
