Woodland walks!

Join the King’s Wood Walking Group and discover an amazing ancient woodland!
The King’s Wood Health Walk is a great way of getting outdoors and enjoying one of Corby’s magnificent green spaces, meeting new people, and staying active throughout the year.
Launched in July, the King’s Wood Health Walk is currently running on a fortnightly basis. The informal, friendly group meets every other Tuesday at 10.30am at the Kingswood Neighbourhood Centre Café, and then heads off for a walk of approximately 45 mins around King’s Wood Local Nature Reserve; the first nature reserve created in the county and now managed by The Wildlife Trust. Steeped in local history, King’s Wood is also a great place to spot wildlife all year round as well as being a peaceful haven amid the hustle and bustle of the town. The group returns to the café after the walk for tea, coffee and a chat.
John Haughton, Volunteer Walk Leader for the King’s Wood Health Walk, says ‘King’s Wood is a real asset for Corby and the communities living nearby. To have an ancient woodland so close to so many people is fantastic and the King’s Wood Health Walk is a great way to get out and enjoy it.’
The next walk takes place on Tuesday 4th October, 10.30am, and all are welcome to come along. The group is also looking for more Volunteer Walk Leaders to enable the walk to run on a weekly basis – please get in touch if you are interested; all training and support is provided and it’s a fun way of meeting new people and learning new skills.
Walk dates for the remainder of 2011 are as follows:
- 18th October
- 1st, 15th, 29th November
- 13th December
